Sustainability & Service

As globally-minded citizens in an evolving community, our students have opportunities in all grade levels to give back to Vietnam and their communities. Our sustainability and service programs are student-led and empower our young people to witness firsthand the difference they can make in someone’s life. Students become involved in a range of activities alongside their academic studies throughout the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.

PYP - Service in Action (SA)

PYP students learn to appreciate knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and personal attributes as a connected whole. They can reflect on the significance of their learning to take meaningful action in their community and beyond.

Students at ISHCMC are encouraged to take action as a result of their learning. This can be a demonstration of a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves, others and the environment.

Action as one of the PYP elements usually begins in a small way but arises from genuine concern and commitment. Action as a result of learning often happens beyond the classroom, and teachers at ISHCMC are always interested to know about services and action that the students take outside of school.

MYP - Service as Action (SA)

Students in the MYP take action when they apply what they are learning in the classroom and beyond. IB learners strive to be caring members of the community who demonstrate a commitment to service—making a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.

Using global contexts, MYP students extend upon service learning classroom ideas, achievements, and skills obtained, to initiate further personalized service learning and take responsibility for their own community involvement by taking individual or group-based action.

DP - Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

Creativity, activity, service (CAS) is one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP). CAS enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience.

It provides opportunities for self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.
