Middle School

Our Class of 2026 earned 2,080 university offers and $113M USD in scholarships, with placements at Harvard, Oxford, Yale, UPenn and more.

Built over time. Realized in them.

(Grades 6 – 8 | Ages 11 – 14)

Middle School is where the foundation gets tested and strengthened. At ISHCMC, we give students the structure to find their footing and the freedom to find their voice through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), a framework built on real-world inquiry rather than rote memorization.

Your child won’t just move through Grade 6, 7, and 8. They’ll leave each one more capable of thinking for themselves than the year before, ready for the pathways that open up in High School.

Academic Life

Where curiosity meets structure

Grades 6 to 8 are a period of rapid change academically, socially, physically. Our approach meets students where they are: enough structure to build strong habits, enough freedom to let genuine curiosity take hold.

Morning Advisory

Every day starts in Advisory with a form teacher who knows each student well, a few minutes of mindfulness, a clear intention for the day, and a sense of belonging before lessons begin.

Design Thinking in Action

In Grade 8 Design Technology, students use the design thinking cycle to prototype real solutions from CAD models to 3D-printed builds. Down the hall, Individuals & Societies students are drafting a manifesto for the future economy of Vietnam, applying concepts from history, economics, and psychology to a live, local problem.

Cross-Disciplinary Projects

The MYP’s signature move: subjects that don’t stay in their lane. Students combine Math, Science, Design, and Humanities to tackle a single real-world challenge, learning early that the best problems don’t respect subject boundaries.

Co-Curricular Life

The day doesn’t end at the final bell. Between competitive sport, the Stingrays swim programme, coding clubs, and the ISHCMC Performing Arts Academy (IPAA), every student finds something that’s theirs.

International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)

Grades 6 – 8, continuing through Grade 10

The MYP builds understanding through key concepts and global contexts – connecting classroom learning to real issues rather than isolating it in a textbook. Students learn to think critically, creatively, and globally.

Picture your child:

  • Designing playgrounds and running Socratic seminars in Individuals & Societies (InSoc)
  • Exploring the ethical implications of robotics in Digital Design
  • Interviewing real clients to develop products in Design Technology
  • Hosting a “Chance Carnival” or entering global mathematics competitions
  • Presenting a Cross-Disciplinary Project that solves a real-world challenge using multiple subjects at once
