Our Middle School
Middle School is a time of discovery, change, and growing independence.
At ISHCMC, students are given the structure to build strong learning habits and the freedom to develop their own ideas and interests. Through the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, they explore meaningful questions, connect learning across subjects, and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges.
As students progress through Grades 6–8, they become more confident thinkers, communicators, and collaborators. They learn to take greater responsibility for their choices, contribute to their community, and prepare for the opportunities ahead in High School.

Academic Life
The Middle Years Programme combines academic challenge with inquiry, creativity, and real-world learning. Students develop strong subject knowledge while learning to ask thoughtful questions, consider different perspectives, and approach unfamiliar challenges with confidence.
Morning Advisory
Each day begins with Advisory and a teacher who knows students well. Time for connection, reflection, and mindfulness helps students feel grounded, supported, and ready for the day ahead.
Learning Across Subjects
Middle School students make connections between Math, Science, Humanities, Design, and other subject areas. Cross-disciplinary projects show them how different perspectives and skills can work together to address complex challenges.
Design Thinking in Action
Students learn to identify problems, develop ideas, test prototypes, and refine their solutions. Experiences such as digital modeling, product design, and 3D printing help them turn creative thinking into practical outcomes.
Co-Curricular Life
Coding, the Stingrays swim program, performing arts, competitive sports, and other activities allow students to pursue interests beyond the classroom. These experiences help them build friendships, discover new strengths, and feel connected to school life.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)
The IB Middle Years Programme connects classroom learning to meaningful local and global issues. Through key concepts and global contexts, students develop a deeper understanding of their subjects while learning to think critically, creatively, and independently.
Learning is active and applied. Students may design playgrounds and take part in Socratic seminars in Individuals and Societies, explore the ethical implications of robotics in Digital Design, or interview real clients before developing products in Design Technology.
They may also host a “Chance Carnival,” participate in global mathematics competitions, or complete a cross-disciplinary project that brings together knowledge and skills from several subjects to address a real-world challenge.

A Campus Designed for Discovery
Middle School students learn at ISHCMC’s Secondary Campus, an environment designed to support increasing independence, collaboration, creativity, and academic focus.
Facilities include technologically advanced classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, an Information and Media Center, professional theater, recording studios, design suites, music practice rooms, science and food technology labs, an NBA-size basketball court, rooftop sports field, and a 25-meter, 8-lane swimming pool.
