Our Primary School
Imagine your child arriving at school curious, confident, and excited to discover what comes next.
At ISHCMC, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme encourages students to ask thoughtful questions, explore meaningful ideas, and connect learning to the world around them. Inquiry-based learning is balanced with purposeful instruction, giving students both the freedom to investigate and the strong academic foundations they need to progress.
Students develop as thinkers, communicators, collaborators, and problem-solvers. Through personalized support and opportunities to make choices in their learning, they build independence, creativity, and the confidence to share their ideas.
Our teachers create an inclusive environment where every student feels known, valued, and inspired to grow.
Curious Thinkers, Confident Learners
Discover a Primary School where students build strong academic foundations, explore their interests, and develop the skills and confidence to take ownership of their learning.
Academic Life
Every day in Primary brings opportunities to inquire, create, collaborate, and solve problems. Through the IB Primary Years Programme, students make connections across subjects while developing the knowledge, skills, and learning habits that prepare them for Secondary School and beyond.
A Positive Start
Each day begins with connection. Students are welcomed into classrooms where they can share ideas, prepare for learning, and build strong relationships with teachers and classmates. This positive start helps them feel settled, valued, and ready to engage.
Math in Action
Students explore Math through practical challenges and real-world situations. From budgeting for a class fundraiser to gathering data and calculating percentages, learning becomes relevant and purposeful while developing confidence, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Discovering How the World Works
Inquiry allows students to investigate important questions and understand how ideas connect. They may explore scientific concepts through experiments, research, and digital tools before communicating their discoveries through presentations, models, writing, or creative projects.
World Languages and Culture
Students can learn Vietnamese, Mandarin, Spanish, or receive English as an Additional Language support. Interactive lessons and cultural experiences help them develop communication skills, appreciate different perspectives, and participate confidently in ISHCMC’s international community
STEAM and Innovation
Our Makerspace and Fab Lab give students opportunities to design, code, build, and experiment. By testing ideas and learning from mistakes, they develop creativity, digital literacy, resilience, and the confidence to turn their thinking into meaningful solutions.
Creativity and Expression
Music, visual arts, and library learning encourage students to express themselves and explore new perspectives. They play instruments, experiment with artistic techniques, discover books, and make connections between creative experiences and their classroom inquiries.
Active Bodies, Active Minds
Physical education, swimming, outdoor play, and team activities support healthy development and student wellbeing. These experiences help students build coordination, confidence, cooperation, and resilience while discovering the enjoyment that comes from being active.
Learning Beyond the School Day
After-school activities give students further opportunities to explore interests across sports, performing arts, technology, creativity, and more. They can develop new skills, form friendships, and discover passions within a supportive community.
International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP)
The IB Primary Years Programme invites students to learn through curiosity, inquiry, and meaningful discovery. Built around 6 engaging themes, the PYP helps students make connections across subjects and explore the world from different perspectives.
Learning is grounded in real-world contexts, helping students develop communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. By asking questions, investigating ideas, and reflecting on their learning, students build the confidence to take greater ownership of their progress.
Specialist learning in Physical Education and the arts supports creativity, movement, and self-expression. Our POSISH wellbeing curriculum develops empathy, self-awareness, and resilience, while technology is used purposefully to strengthen inquiry and digital literacy. Together, these experiences prepare students to become active, engaged, and globally minded learners.
Caring and Dedicated Teachers
Our Primary educators are mentors and guides who recognize that every student brings different strengths, interests, and ways of learning.
Through strong relationships, thoughtful observation, and personalized support, teachers create engaging experiences that encourage inquiry, participation, and academic growth. They also work closely with families to help each student feel supported and confident throughout their Primary journey.
This shared commitment to academic excellence, wellbeing, and student agency is guided by ISHCMC’s experienced school leadership.
