From Stage Lights to City Lights: Yula’s Journey from ISHCMC to New York

For Yula, a proud member of the Class of 2025, ISHCMC has been more than just a school – it’s been the stage where her passion for theater came to life.

Over the past four years, Yula has immersed herself in the world of filmmaking and theater management, seizing every opportunity to grow, create, and lead. From participating in school productions like The Tinderbox, Cogs in the Machine, Amended Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies, to forming a student-led theater technician crew that trained over 30 students, her impact on ISHCMC’s performing arts scene has been nothing short of inspiring.

Yula and her friends created a theater technician crew for productions and school events at ISHCMC.

“The supportive and diverse community at ISHCMC allowed me to collaborate, take risks and discover what I truly love, whether in academics or school life” – Yula shared.

Her journey at ISHCMC has not only fueled her creative spirit but also helped shape her identity. With a community of caring teachers and peers behind her, Yula has built a strong foundation to pursue her dreams.

Now, Yula is taking the next bold step – heading to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to major in Performance Studies. Excited to live in a dorm and study what she loves, Yula is ready to shine on new stages and explore the heart of one of the world’s most iconic artistic cities.

“Do what you like”, she encourages her fellow classmates. “If you don’t know what to do, try everything until you find it. Experience is the key.”

Yula has played a key role in the success of many ISHCMC school productions and events.

Yula has always been an enthusiastic and positive student. We believe she will take on this next chapter with courage and determination – as shown in the message she left for herself:

“I hope you are doing great in New York. You are a strong and amazing person, so I believe you will thrive there.”

At ISHCMC, Yula started her passion. At NYU Tisch, she’ll continue her journey – proving that when you follow what you love, the spotlight will follow you.
