We, the ISHCMC Community can once again be proud of our graduating class and their International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB DP) examination results.

The ISHCMC Class of 2017 is our 17th cohort of IB DP students and many of them have been members of the ISHCMC Community since their Early Explorer and Primary School years.

Our students have achieved a tremendous 98% pass rate in an inclusive environment where all students study the IB. Topping the excellent work of this class, was the Valedictorian Yeji, scoring a perfect score of 45 out of 45. Only 218 other students around the world achieved this top score from the 159,400 students who sat the IB DP examination globally. Yeji joined the ISHCMC community in Grade 8 in 2012.

In addition, our students scored well above the world average and furthermore, 60% of ISHCMC’s Class of 2017 received the prestigious IB Bilingual Diploma, upholding the school’s reputation as a truly international school. The Class of 2017 had representatives from 15 different nationalities out of the 50 that attend ISHCMC. A sixty percent bilingual diploma statistic is more than double the 29% of bilingual diplomas achieved globally by IB Diploma students.

Forty-one of the 50 students of the Class of 2017 studied at ISHCMC since their International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). This curriculum is regarded as the best transition curriculum to develop the skills sets needed to succeed in the IB DP. Fourteen have been at ISHCMC since their International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).

These results are a testament to the ability of our dedicated teaching staff in motivating and engaging ISHCMC students to achieve to the best of their abilities. It is clear that with support and guidance from both school and home, ISHCMC students flourish and develop as learners who are well prepared to face the rigors of what is generally regarded as the most difficult university preparation program around the world. The IB Diploma is challenging not just because of the academic depth of the subject content but also due to the breadth of subjects studied and the additional expectations of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and C.A.S. Successfully completing the IB Diploma is a feat that many of us from previous generations would have found difficult to achieve.

We are very proud of the achievement of the Class of 2017 and wish them all the best for their transition to leading universities and colleges around the world. I am sure you will join me in congratulating the Class of 2017 and wishing them all the best for their next journey.
