Saigon Stingray International Swim Meet
In late May 38 members of the Stingray swimming team ventured to Hanoi to compete in the UNIS invitational swim meet in Hanoi. This was a two day swimming meet with most swimmers competing in 10 individual events and 2 relay races.
The weather was very hot and like the weather our swimmers were hot and dominated the met and winning the overall champion trophy. For many of our younger swimmers this was their first major swim meet and everyone excelled. Most swimmers won medals. This was a great achievement and we could not have done it without our great team spirit led by our cheer leader Win Dang. It did not matter if we came first or last we cheered each on with great enthusiasm. It was also great to have so many parents supporting the swimmers.
Everyone was a star performer but we had some special age champions which mean they were the best swimmers for their ages out of all the schools. Other members of the team were Sean O’Dore, Joel Prineas, Sang Min Kim, Emily Taylor, Daniel Fetkovich, Sam Fetkovich, Koen Van Tiggelen, Imke Van Tiggelen, Kyle Pashen, Sophie Groenweg, Apsara Lindeman, Ariane Maitland-smith, Eric Wang, Hee Chang Han, Win Dang, Mackenxie Wheeler, William Condra, Garett Pashen, Ju Bin Lee and Tien Lam. High school swimmers were Daniel Horn, Stella Noether and Yun Soon Kim. Middle School swimmers were Sang Bin Kim, Yil Verdeja, Issy O’Maonaigh, Sarah Armstrong, Emma Armstrong and Chris Clarici.
