Head of High School Welcome Message

5th August, 2011

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back from what was, I hope, a happy, safe and relaxing break from the rigour and routine of school. If this is your first year in the High School, or you are a new student at ISHCMC, I hope your transition will be smooth and that you will soon make new friends and feel part of the school community. If you are returning to the High School, I hope that you are pleased to be back and are looking forward to the challenges of the academic year ahead.

ISHCMC has a motivated and caring collection of Homeroom Teachers who are looking forward to getting to know new students and continuing to work with returning students. The homeroom teachers will be writing to their homeroom students’ parents/guardians during the course of next week.

Your child’s Homeroom teachers are your first point of contact. Should you need to speak with them, please call the school on 389 89 100 extension 311 Ms Trinh, our secretary, will take your message.

You may find the following information helpful:

Homeroom

  • Each Homeroom class list will be placed in the foyer area on Monday 8th August; I am sure if students are here they will be eager to check their Homeroom teachers and fellow classmates.
  • Homeroom period begins promptly each day at 7:45 a.m. so your support in ensuring your child is at school at least ten minutes before this time is appreciated; this allows sufficient time for students to organize their locker and books, ready for the school day.
Stationery
  • Stationery forms were included in students’ end of semester reports and for those new to our community; our Admissions Department will have provided this information. Please purchase stationery as follows:
Where: in the pavilion area of the entrance to the school
When: from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and during the week of Monday 8th August 2011, before classes commence on Wednesday 10th August 2011.

If you have misplaced the stationery form, please collect one from the Stationery Shop when you come to purchase these items.
Lockers
  • We now have sturdy metal lockers. It is important that all students bring a quality lock on the first day of school (as on the stationery list) to ensure the security of lockers.

First day of School
  • Students should arrive at the campus, ready to be in Homeroom by 7:45am.
  • Staff will help students ensure they know which room is their Homeroom.
  • During Period 1 to 3 all students will be with their Homeroom teachers so that all is ready for subject lessons to begin after this.
  • The canteen will be open. Fruit is provided during recess break.
  • Our school day finishes at 2:40pm.
Parent Information Evening
  • We look forward to seeing you on Thursday18th August at our Parent Information Evening, commencing at 7:00 p.m. in the MPR (on the 4th floor) when you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s Homeroom and subject teachers.
Campus
  • Due to the construction process which commenced last year, we will have some changes to our rooming.
I hope that this academic year will be a happy and educationally fulfilling time for all High School students and the broader School community.

Yours sincerely,
Oscar Nilsson
Head of High School
