PTO Position of Responsibility
The President:
1. Convene and preside at all general and Executive Committee meetings;
2. Coordinate the work of the PTO officers, co-ordinators and committees in order to achieve the objectives of the PTO;
3. Approve the minutes of meetings before the Secretary publishes them.
The Vice-President:
1. Aid and assistant the President;
2. Assume the duties of the President in the event of the President’s absence or resignation;
3. Be responsible for recording events and activities to be presented as the official history.
The Secretary:
1. Take minutes at all general and Executive Committee meetings and then publish them after they have been approved by the President;
2. Prepare and publish agendas for meetings;
3. Maintain the list of the members holding any position in the PTO (both elected and volunteer);
4. Handle all correspondence of the PTO.
THE TREASURER will manage the financial business of the PTO.
Classroom Parent Coordinator:
The role of Classroom Parent Coordinator is to coordinate parents who want to be involved in the school, specifically supporting teachers in classrooms.
The role of the Classroom Parent is as a:
- Supporter of teacher, parents and students within a particular class and grade.
- Co-ordinator of parent resources (e.g. cake – makers, school trips, organise party games, ideas for crafts, etc.)
- Promoter of good parent/teacher/student relationships within a particular class and Grade.
- Keeper of the Emergency Call – Out List.
The responsibilities are:
- To work with the homeroom teacher with a view to encourage parental involvement where needed.
- To encourage parents to become involved in class activities where the teacher would like their involvement.
- To contact other parents in a particular class in the case of an emergency.
- To work with the Support Parent Co-ordinator who can:
i. be a liaison with other parent groups through PTO.
ii. be a liaison with teachers and administrators where appropriate.
Cultural Representative Coordinator:
The person (or people) taking on this role will ensure that every nation and/or cultural group in the school community which would like representation has at least one national or cultural representative. This coordinator will assemble guidelines that will clearly define and direct the work of the representatives. As work has already begun on these guidelines, the coordinator would simply assume this process.
The role of Cultural Representative is:
- To act as a liaison between the school and the various national/cultural groups represented in the school.
- To foster intra – community relationships and raise awareness of national/cultural diversity within the school community.
- To act as a resource and to offer advice with regard to school issues relating to particular national groups represented in the school.
Some of the tasks of the representatives may include:
- To participate in the orientation of new parents i.e. provide information on school, local community and general advice on settling into Ho Chi Minh City.
- To host and to plan social occasions e.g., coffee mornings to foster social/community relations.
- To sit on a planning committee for such events as UN Day and to assist in the organisation of inter – cultural events.
- To liaise with national associations to develop community relations.
- To liaise with the Co-ordinator of Classroom parents to enhance school activities.

Newsletter Co-Coordinator
The person (or people) taking on this role would be responsible for any newsletter (including contributions to the school newsletter) issued by the PTO. This person would work closely with the Secretary and other members of the executive.
Parent Sport Booster Coordinator
The person (or people) in this role would be responsible for providing resources and support to the ISHCMC athletic department. Such support would ideally ensure that student athletes could have a positive and rewarding experience while participating in school sports.
The role of this coordinator could include the following: coordinating uniforms for our teams (there are some uniform in the process of being made at this time); assisting the athletic department during sports exchanges; setting up and organizing competitive sports leagues such as soccer, basketball, swimming, and/or volleyball; finding and area for a baseball/softball league; and/or setting up an intramural sports program.
